Buying a barcode for your music album is no different from purchasing a barcode for any other retail product. All you will need is an EAN or UPC barcode – which type of barcode you use will depend on what barcode system your intended retailers use. You will require a barcode for your music album if you intend on selling your album at any store or retailer which makes use of a barcoding system. If you are selling more than one music album, you will a barcode for each CD – each product variation needs its own unique barcode number. This is necessary so that prices are accurate for each product at the point of sale and inventory can be efficiently tracked. You wouldn’t want the sales of your music album to be recorded as sales for a different album that has the same barcode.

Upon purchasing a barcode for your music album from SA Barcodes, you will receive your barcode number and images in both the UPC and EAN formats via email – check with your intended retailer before making a final decision on which one of the barcodes you should use.

Once you have received your barcode images (we send them to you in JPEG, EPS and TIFF formats), you may simply include the image into your packaging or album cover design. If you have already designed and printed your album cover, we can offer to print your barcode labels which you can then stick onto your CD case.
