Do you need an ISBN number and barcode for your publication?

Our design team then takes the number and designs the barcode for you, providing you with high quality images of the completed code, ready for the printers press.

ISBN stands for International-Standard-Book-Number – and is a unique number assigned to a specific once-off publication. ISBN’s are used for all Fiction, Non-Fiction and electronic book publications. If you have a book ready to be published, you will need to register for an ISBN-number and then have the number converted into an ISBN barcode image. This barcode image can then be printed onto stickers and placed onto the back cover of your book; or printed directly onto the cover itself. Once this process is complete, your book will be able to be sold at all retailers across South Africa and abroad.

SA Barcodes offers a quick & simple ISBN design service at a cost of only R275.00 per publication. We start by supplying you with the full contact details and instructions for getting your ISBN number from the National Library. Once you have completed the registration process, you will need to send us your ISBN code. We will then carry out the design process, and issue you with your completed ISBN barcode within 24 hours.
We can also provide you with high-quality printed stickers, at a cost of R220.00 per 1000 stickers.

What information the National Library will need from you:

Title of the publication
Name and address of publisher (or self-publisher)
Contact details – contact person, physical and/or postal address, telephone and/or cellphone numbers, fax number if available, and email address
Is the publication in physical format or is there also an electronic version?
Please note that each different version of your book – for example a separate hard and soft-cover, or an e-book in addition to the print version – require their own ISBN barcode.

Upon receipt of your payment, we will immediately issue you with all the information you’ll need to get your ISBN code from the National Library.

Please note: All published books, both fiction and non-fiction, require their own unique ISBN code. Magazines and Newspaper operate on a different system, called ISSN. If you wish to register for an ISSN code, please contact our sales team or visit the ISSN page on the website.
