Do I need a barcode?
If you are looking to sell your products at any retail store (be it physical or online), then yes, you do need a barcode.
Depending on what product you’ve created and are now looking to sell, you may need a different type of barcode. For retails products such as food items or even CDs, a UPC or EAN barcode will be need. For novels or once off publications, an ISSN barcode.
All of the above mentioned we offer many other services to cater for your barcoding needs too.
Before purchasing your barcode, always ensure that your intended retailer will be able to accept your barcode onto their product registration system. Some larger retailers such as Amazon or Pick ‘n Pay rely on the GS1 barcode system and therefore may request that you register codes directly with GS1.
However, keep in mind that SA Barcodes is the country’s leading barcode reseller and our barcodes are accepted at a wide variety of retail stores in South Africa. Once purchasing a barcode from SA Barcodes, you are able to use the code for life as we only charge a once-off price, there are no renewal fees applicable.
