Barcodes Zambia

zambia flag

Though SA Barcodes is based in Cape Town South Africa, our simple online buying process and excellent customer service makes it possible for us to serve customers across Africa and around the globe – Zambia included. We pride ourselves on our ability to reach customers regardless of their physical locations as well as in offering smaller companies an alternate and cheaper solution for getting their products to market.

We understand that many first-timers are unaware of the costs involved in leasing barcodes, or are not even up to date on the general information about how to get a barcode for your products. Research and keeping up to date with the trends and technologies in our industry have kept us ahead of our competitors and help us tremendously in assisting customers and answering numerous questions thoroughly. We seek not only to serve our customers, but to educate them.

Types of barcodes

If you’re looking to get your retail products into store – be it food items, clothing, appliances, CDs and DVDs, etc. – you’re going to need a UPC or EAN retail barcode in order to do so. The UPC is the older, 12-digit version of the barcode whereas the EAN is the later, 13-digit version. We advise that our customers check with their intended retailers on which format they would prefer as systems may differ from store to store. SA Barcodes does however provide you with both the UPC and EAN versions of your barcode numbers for your convenience.

For publications, you’re going to need to source your numbers from the National Library of Zambia. SA Barcodes offers the service of going through the process of sourcing the numbers for you as well as designing the corresponding barcode image once received. For books, novels and once-off publications, you will need an International Standard Book Number (ISBN). For magazines, newspapers and serial publications, you will need an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN).

SA Barcodes is able to provide our customers with barcodes at an affordable, once-off price. And what’s more, once you have purchased the barcodes, they belong to you for life. You’ll never have to worry about heavy paperwork, annual fees or long waits as we endeavour to be the solution for small businesses who would otherwise have been excluded from the market due to heavy costs.

Just to let you in on how simple the process of buying barcodes is at SA Barcodes, all we basically need from you is your company name as well as confirmation that you have read and accepted our terms and conditions. A conveniently packaged zipped folder is then delivered to your email upon receiving proof of payment, and it contains everything necessary to get your products into store:

  • The barcode numbers
  • High resolution corresponding images
  • PDF and Excel spreadsheets of the numbers for easy reference
  • A certificate of registration
  • A sizing template to help with printing and scaling
  • A copy of your purchase invoice
  • A copy of the terms and conditions

Now, in case you’re worrying about legitimacy and legalities, don’t. To gain your trust, we’ve compiled and regularly update our customer testimonial page so that you can browse through a list of our happy customers. Their contact details are made available, too. We can also provide you with our sample barcode pack so that you can test compliance and scannability at any given retailer before you make your final purchase. We strive to promote such legitimacy and authenticity to potential customers and do business transparently as we’re aware of many fake companies who offer fake numbers and scams.

Our barcodes are sourced from the official international barcode number provider, GS1. And so you can rest assured that we are providing you with authentic numbers that are unique to you and guaranteed never to be duplicated. The barcodes are also fully scannable (provided you keep the images within the recommended resolutions) and are accepted at the majority of retail stores across Zambia and the rest of the globe.
